{"id":1407,"date":"2011-01-25T09:02:18","date_gmt":"2011-01-25T17:02:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leanmeanvirilemachine.com\/?p=1407"},"modified":"2011-01-25T09:02:18","modified_gmt":"2011-01-25T17:02:18","slug":"the-only-grocery-list-youll-ever-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2011\/01\/25\/the-only-grocery-list-youll-ever-need\/","title":{"rendered":"The Only &#8220;Grocery List&#8221; You&#8217;ll Ever Need"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pizza&#8230; mac and cheese&#8230; frosted flakes&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>When we guys <em>do<\/em> actually get to the grocery store, we aren&#8217;t exactly adept at maneuvering the aisles, filling up the cart with good stuff, and doing it cheaply.<\/p>\n<p>Those of us trying to lose weight attempt to just eat a <em>little<\/em> less of the same junk, and those of us trying to gain weight will just pile a bunch of protein powders and other supplements onto the same old same old, when switching to a diet of primarily <em>real food<\/em> (as opposed to processed food products) is all we really need to focus on.<\/p>\n<p>With thousands of different products in the grocery store, and most of them making absurd (and untrue) health claims, it can be really hard to know what to get when you decide to start eating better.<\/p>\n<p>No more.<\/p>\n<p>Darya Pino over at <a href=\"http:\/\/summertomato.com\/\">Summer Tomato<\/a> recently posted this flowchart on how to find real food at the supermarket (which is more difficult that you might imagine.) I thought it was too good to not let you guys in on it. This &#8220;cheat sheet&#8221; is really the closest thing to a grocery list you&#8217;ll ever need.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Real-Food-Flowchart-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1412\" title=\"Real-Food-Flowchart-2\" src=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Real-Food-Flowchart-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"655\" srcset=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Real-Food-Flowchart-2.png 550w, http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Real-Food-Flowchart-2-220x300.png 220w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s necessary to spend $100 per week in order to eat good, I don&#8217;t think you need to stick with organic\/local\/grass-fed food, and I don&#8217;t think you need to hit up the grocery store with a long list of ingredients. This flowchart will help you get there with less burned-up <a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/02\/dude-wheres-my-willpower\/\">willpower<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Oh yeah, but make sure you get a <em>little<\/em> bit of the &#8220;bad stuff&#8221; you really like as well. That&#8217;s what cheat days are for!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack LaLanne<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a quick aside, I&#8217;d like to acknowledge Jack LaLanne, who recently died at the age of 96.<\/p>\n<p>He was one of the first people to push people to stop taking their health and fitness for granted, and to start taking proactive steps to improve them.
