Everything flows onward; all things are brought into being with a changing nature; the ages themselves glide by in constant movement.\u201d<br \/>\n-Ovid,\u00a0<em>The Metamorphoses<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u2019ve got good news and bad news.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The bad news is this will be the final post on LMVM.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After more than 2 years and 121 posts, I\u2019m calling it a day.<\/p>\n<p><em>But fear not\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>A new, improved, and all-around more badass version of this site will continue as <a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/\">The Guy Can Cook<\/a>!&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"whythechange\">Why The Change?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To be honest, I\u2019ve always hated the name Lean, Mean, Virile Machine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Yes, it rhymes. It\u2019s kinda catchy. But it\u2019s a beast. And I\u2019ve never really made my peace with that.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, just about every good domain name has been snatched up at this point, and those of us looking for something catchy and memorable are stuck with either paying big bucks for someone looking to flip a domain or simply keep searching for the few nuggets that are left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When I saw that <a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/\">www.theguycancook.com<\/a> was still available, I knew I had found my new blog.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Even though this is a men\u2019s health site, I\u2019ve always stressed the importance of eating real food and learning how to prepare food for yourself <em>much<\/em> more than most other fitness sites out there.<\/p>\n<p>And here\u2019s the biggie\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>There is no big, comprehensive site for guys looking to break out of the mold and learn how to cook in order to improve their health and fitness.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2026at least there is none that I could find. Which means there probably isn\u2019t one big enough to meet the needs of the guys out there who are interested in learning this stuff.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"sowhatsgoingtochange\">So What\u2019s Going to Change?<\/h2>\n<p>In these first few months, I\u2019ll be doing a lot of cooking 101 stuff:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to stock your kitchen<\/li>\n<li>How to wield a knife<\/li>\n<li>How to make a few <a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/25\/the-power-of-go-to-meals\/\">go-to meals<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Again, my aim here is to create the most effective resource for guys looking to learn how to start preparing healthy meals, so any and all feedback on what you\u2019d like to see will be taken very seriously!<\/p>\n<p><strong>But this won\u2019t be your typical foodie blog.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Look, I like food porn just as much as the next person, but most cooking websites fail in one big way: <strong>teaching normal people with busy lives how to learn the skill set of cooking healthy food without letting it take over their lives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>That ends now.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve already got some good resources on overcoming the <em>emotional<\/em> and <em>mental<\/em> blocks that keep people out of the kitchen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/09\/the-kitchen-hacking-manifesto\/\">The Kitchen Hacking Manifesto<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/01\/how-to-perform-inception-on-your-own-mind\/\">How to Perform \u201cInception\u201d On Your Own Mind<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/03\/how-to-read-a-nutrition-facts-label\/\">How to Read a Nutrition Facts Label<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/theguycancook.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/29\/5-reasons-why-you-need-to-learn-how-to-cook-a-few-good-meals\/\">5 Reasons Why You NEED to Learn How to Cook a Few Good Meals<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But I\u2019ll be going even more in-depth on how to navigate the hero\u2019s quest from novice to expert in the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But cooking won\u2019t be the only focus here.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Food, nutrition, and cooking have always been the big focus here, but I like to dedicate space to other things as well:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Exercise<\/li>\n<li>Rest and Relaxation<\/li>\n<li>Debunking Health and Fitness Myths<\/li>\n<li>Getting the Most Out of Life<\/li>\n<li>Manly Role Models<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These things aren\u2019t going anywhere.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Although I see cooking and eating real food to be the foundation of maxing out your physical health, the best reason to do this is not to become a bodybuilder or athlete, but to help you live the life you want to live a little more each day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Since I see this shift from LMVM to TGCC as more of an evolutionary step, I\u2019ve decided to bring along the old site to the new. So all my old posts will be up there, and all links to the LMVM site will automatically redirect to the same content on TGCC.<\/p>\n<p>The new site is up now, but there isn\u2019t anything to see yet. As soon as the site is migrated, I\u2019ll resume writing.
